5.5 IP Network Configuration

IP addresses are used to route packets from place to place on an intranet/internet. If

you are not part of an established network, and your Ethernet segment is isolated, e.g.,

using an isolated Ethernet hub, you can choose "private" addresses from one of the

reserved ranges of three different classes: A, B, and C.

The MTAS-CM is preconfigured with the following network address.

• IP Address: 10.0.2.100

• Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

• Gateway: 10.0.2.20

To change the IP address of the MTAS-CM, the user must be logged in to the TL1

command interface as specified in Section 5.4 Communicating with the MTAS. At the

TL>> prompt, the user can change the network settings using the following procedure.

Step 1. Login from the PC using TL1 command ACT-USER.

ACT-USER::ROOT:1::PUBLIC;

“ROOT” is the system administrator User ID (UID) and “PUBLIC” (in capital

letters) is the default password.

NOTE: To prevent unauthorized access, change your password as soon as possible

and store this password in a safe place.

On success, the user should see something similar to:
